A Golden Jubilee!

Communion…Thanksgiving…Golden Jubilee!

This was the theme that marked the celebration last Monday, July 10, where all roads led to Sta. Rita Academy in Sibalom, Antique, as Alumni, Friends, Priests, Religious Men and Women, Parents and Students, Teachers and Staff, gathered to celebrate God’s loving kindness and abundance,  for 50 wonderful years, of our life and mission there. Gleaning some words from the sharing of Fr. Gigi Geremia, an ‘old boy’ of Sta. Rita, and homilist during the Eucharistic celebration:

In preparation for the 500 years of our Christianity in 2021, our theme for this year spells out the importance of communion. Fruitfulness wherever we are does not come only through our own personal efforts but rather by being constantly connected with Him and with others. Our communion is made manifest in living out our spiritual life which has been inculcated in us when we were in school. Our greatest way of thanking the Lord for all these blessings is our communion with Him…

My dear friends, with joy let us celebrate the gift of Sta.Rita Academy to Sibalom, to the whole Province of Antique, and even to the whole world. With grateful hearts, we remember all those who had been part and parcel of what we are now:  the sisters, our Lay teachers, the school staff, our dear parents, our schoolmates, and our classmates.

May the golden harvest that we have reaped bring forth more seed to be planted anew in the hearts of people…

We thank the Sisters of Sibalom for the welcome and the care they took in facilitating the coming of the Sisters who have served in Sibalom by organizing alumni and friends to provide free airfare accommodation wherever the Sisters came from (as far as Vietnam, in the case of Sr. Violinda!) and for organizing activities that kept every one engaged, especially our four ‘foundresses’ (Sisters Maria Carmela, Estefania, Marie Leonie and Maxima Eugenia), from dawn to dusk, and for a few, even until midnight!
